The Perfect Storm, 30 Ways to Drive Your Business – Audiobook available on Audible

As a subscriber myself to Audible, I sometimes forget to use my monthly credit to buy a book. These credits can build up and I allow myself the luxury of choosing a book, or a selection, when I have time to search, or when I know something especially good has become available.

When we travelled every week, these books were a Godsend. Right now, they are the perfect disembodied friend, telling an amazing story, or giving you really good advice, which keeps you going through difficult times. I find how I respond to each book depends entirely on the narrator.

Recently I downloaded ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ by Ernest Hemingway. It’s really a novella, not much more than a short story, and Hemingway won the Nobel Prize for Literature when it was published. This audiobook is read by Donald Sutherland, who is Canadian, and has that deep, deep brogue that comes with experience, but more importantly, his age, which allows him to give the book additional weight when you hear it, and it works perfectly with the directness of the writer’s prose.

Comparably, ‘The Perfect Storm, 30 Ways to Drive Your Business’ is read by two voices. Jeremy Blake, one of the authors, has an enthusiastic and presenter-like voice, honed by years of public speaking, and having all the advantages of a school which would have taught elocution as standard. This means his chapters are positive, engaging and each of the pearls of wisdom he describes sound entirely doable – which means the book is practical and clear in it’s advice for you. Jo Bourne has a lighter, Scottish tone, and her career as a West End performer means there is a delightful lightness to her tone backed up by the enthusiasm of a professional dancer, inspirational and positive at every stage. Both voices complement each other, and add to the listening experience, so as a business book, it would be hard to find a better choice of readers to bring the ideas and strategies to life.

So as an Audiobook for someone in Business you get all that talent – and 30 really practical and useable ideas to drive your business forward in 2021 – please download and you can hear it all for yourself.
