Be Open, the Secret to Getting the Most from our Open Courses

By Jeremy Blake on November 10, 2020

Reading through the feedback from our first set of courses it is clear that people had some concerns and anticipation, anxiety even, as they didn’t fully know what to expect.

They have read in advance about the format, the use of breakout rooms and the mini assignments and knew they would be working with people from other businesses. This is a marked change from working with your current team.
It is also the thing that many people loved the most. Hearing from others and being asked questions by other delegates as well as us the course leaders brings both challenge and breakthroughs!

How do you get over any fears you have of being in an open group? Well reading what others say, it is simple. You decide to open up.  They allowed themselves to trust in the process and be open to what they might be asked to think of and what they might think about and get creative ideas about. They decided to be open about what they shared and what they asked others to share.  You need a little bit of courage to join any group and we use our twenty year’s experience of training to help you relax and collaborate with others to create a strong and supportive unit.

One of my favourite auto biographies is Andre Agassi’s Open. One of the passages that has stuck with me is this, “It's no accident, I think, that tennis uses the language of life. Advantage, service, fault, break, love, the basic elements of tennis are those of everyday existence, because every match is a life in miniature. Even the structure of tennis, the way the pieces fit inside one another like Russian nesting dolls, mimics the structure of our days. Points become games, become sets, become tournaments, and it's all so tightly connected that any point can become the turning point. It reminds me of the way seconds become minutes become hours, and any hour can be our finest. Or darkest. It's our choice.” Andre Agassi
