25 Years of Bob, Jeremy & Reality: What Have We Learned?

Drama school is an interesting social experiment. After a few years of having your egos massaged you are launched into the business of ‘show’. For the few who make it, they are catapulted to the giddy heights of film stardom and fame. For the vast majority who don’t, you have to make do with Legs Akimbo School Theatre Tours, Dinner Cabaret and Corporate Videos.

This would have been the life that Jeremy and I would have experienced had we not decided to go into business together. This year we celebrate 25 years of being in business and have done several things to celebrate – you’ll notice we have a new 25 years logo, we have Reality water bottles for our trainers and Reality fidget spinners for everyone we train (very popular). We have new brand photography being used and we have recorded a 25 years podcast where we reflect on what we have learned and remember the good times that we’ve experienced.

If you look at the years 1900 – 1925, you have the birth of flight, the death of Queen Victoria, the Edwardian era, the entire Great War, the rise of communism in Russia, the rise of Stalin and Nazism and the roaring 20’s were well under way. We had advances in science that were transformational and Britain had an Empire that spanned over a quarter of the Earth.

From the years 2000 to 2025, Jeremy and I have had 5 children between us, moved house on several occasions, started a business, had good years and bad, worked with great clients and developed our own team, pivoted on a number of occasions (painful), and toured the UK, Ireland, across Europe, the US, India and the Middle East. We have spoken at hundreds of sales conferences at home and abroad and trained well over 30,000 people in how to sell – a life skill that everyone should try and master. We are executive coaches, consultants, and now develop managers to lead with professionalism. We survived the pandemic, have had time out on occasion when we needed it and through all that, remained friends.

I’d like to pay tribute to Jeremy in this blog – as he says in our podcast, there aren’t many people in the world like him – true. There are also very few friends in the world like Jeremy. He has been my friend through the very, very worst times of my life and I will forever thank him for that. The point is, that with Jeremy, it is always good natured. He has no dark side. He means the best for everyone, sometimes at the expense of himself. There are not many people in the world like that, are there?

In our latest The Reality of Business podcast25 Years of Bob, Jeremy & Reality: Lessons From Building a Training Business, we look back over the years at the best of times, the great gigs and tours, and the nights out. We remember so many of our clients – who are now our friends. We thank our team and our trainers. It’s a good listen. Please do.
